What are your opening times?

We are open 7 days a week including bank holidays  and run sessions throughout the day. Please see our timetable for which sessions are currently running.

Where are you located?

Our address is Unit 2 Marsh Green Road North, Marsh Barton, Exeter, EX2 8NY. We are between Europcar and the old Jewson warehouse. We are on the same road as The Climbing Hangar, Exeter Trading Hub, Dulux and Packexe.

Do you have parking?

Yes we have 9 spaces which are allocated on a first come first served basis. These spaces are also used by our shop customers too. For exclusive party bookings the 9 spaces are reserved for your party. There is off road parking available also but it can be busy during rainy days as there are other indoor recreational facilities nearby. A planning application has been put in to turn the unit next door into a pay and display car park also.

Our car park is the middle car park in between Europcar and Devon Car Sales with the double red roller doors. It is surrounded by white picket fencing Within the next few months we will be introducing ANPR to our carpark which means you will need to register your vehicle on entry, but we will remind you to do this.

Where is the nearest public transport?

By bus: We are very conveniently located opposite a bus stop. The Matford Park and Ride goes past this bus stop from Matford Park and Ride and into Exeter High Street then on to Sowton Park and Ride. Ask the bus driver to stop at the ‘Marsh Green Road North’ bus stop. Click here to view the full bus timetable: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/routes/south-west/grn/matford-park-ride-sowton/xdbgrn0.i

By train: We are a short walk away from Marsh Barton train station, approx 10 minutes. If you follow the map link below it will take you on a shorter walking route following the canal via Water Lane and using a cut through past Dulux rather than the default Google Maps route that advises you to walk via Grace Road.

Is there disabled access?

The mini funfair and white forest are on the upstairs floor which currently does not have lift access to the second floor. We are hoping to apply for a grant to add a stair lift in the future. The downstairs is accessible by wheelchair and we have a wheelchair accessible toilet.

Can I bring my pushchair in?

We have a pushchair and pram parking downstairs. You can take your pushchair or pram upstairs but there is no lift. In busy times it might be difficult to find a suitable place to leave your pushchair upstairs so we strongly recommend they stay downstairs in the allocated parking area.

Is there anywhere to leave my bike?

We currently do have dedicated bike parking but we are in the process of installing a bike rack. You are welcome to leave your bike inside in the buggy parking area until we have a bike rack installed outside.

Do you offer any discounts?

The current discounts we offer are free admission on weekdays during term time for childminders and carers. We do not offer any other discounts.

Do you offer SEN sessions?

We are currently trialing a SEN parents meet up session, but do not have a specific session bookable to the public. We have a calm room upstairs for adults and children if they need some quiet time.

Do you have baby changing?

Yes we have baby changing facilities.

What age range is Play Emporium suitable for?

We consider Play Emporium suitable for all ages, so it is personal preference if we are suited to you and your child/rens ages. There are a large number of activities for ages 2 to pre-teen. We also have a baby area with a busy board, and under 5’s books in the calm room. We have had positive feedback from teenagers who attend with their family as they enjoy the throwing games and mini arcade. Play Emporium isn’t just for children, adults are welcome to visit without children too.

How long are you allowed to stay?

All sessions are 90 minutes long with a half an hour gap between each to ease parking and allow time for cleaning in between sessions. You might find as we build more downstairs that 90 minutes isn’t enough time to do all activities therefore in 2025 we will be increasing the length of stay to 2 hours – we don’t know the date for this increase but it will most likely be towards the Easter holidays.

What is your timetable?

Our timetable is currently very simple consisting of three 90 minute sessions a day open for anyone to attend. They run from 09:30 to 11:00, 11:30 to 13:00, and 13:30 to 15:00, 7 days a week. We also run an after school session from 15:30 for 2 hours until 17:30 on Wednesday and Friday – this session is longer to allow children to travel from different school locations and still have a 90 minute play session. This after school session runs until Friday 12th July. We might add a late afternoon session in the summer holidays depending on demand.

From September 2024 onwards we will have a brand new timetable with a whole range of different sessions.

What is the admission price?

Standard child admission is £4 up to the age of 18. Adult admission is £2. The price is currently for the funfair upstairs only as the downstairs is counted as free because it isn’t fully built yet. This means the ticket price will increase when the downstairs is fully built in 2025. You still need to pay the upstairs entry fee to enter downstairs for free. Downstairs is subject to the same time restrictions as upstairs and must be vacated at the end of the session.

Do you cater for food allergies?

All our food and drink products are prepackaged and nothing is made on site, therefore all ingredients are available to view. We sell a very small range of products including the following dietary options*

Gluten free gingerbread man

Oat milk for tea and coffee

Vegan sweets

Organic 6 months+ baby veg sticks snack

*pending availability

What payments do you accept?

For booking online we accept card and credit card payments via PayPal checkout. For in venue purchases we accept cash or card.

Can I transfer my ticket?

We allow the transfer of tickets 12 hours before your session starts for standard admission – you will need to log into BookWhen and do this manually yourself. Any other classes, parties, or special sessions are not transferable.

How do I book?

All advanced bookings must be done online with the exception of party bookings. Click the booking page and select the session you would like to book, then add the required number of tickets for adults as well as children and then proceed to checkout. We cannot take bookings over the phone.

Can I just walk in instead of booking?

We do accept walk in bookings if there is capacity in the session. As we have very low session capacity there is not always space to allow additional people to pay on the door so we strongly advise always booking ahead of time online to avoid disappointment.

How many people are there per session?

We are currently trialing the optimum session capacity between 25 and 35 people including both adults and children.

Are there any extra charges?

All food and drink are charged at an additional cost. We have a shop area where we sell props, toys, merchandise, and vintage and miscellaneous items. We plan to sell some puppet making kits in the funfair area towards the summer. We might also add some capsule machines in the future, but have not done so yet.
